So it seems that people are playing Ace Combat 7 successfully on Linux using Steam Play, so I'll give it a whirl.

Assuming it works for me, I'll be after a wireless controller and would be grateful to read your firsthand experiences. If it makes any difference, I don't use Big Picture.

The Steam controller is apparently a bit left-field in it's layout, but as I'm not used to any other controller that shouldn't be a problem (last console was a Sega Saturn). The build quality is a bit "meh" though.

The Xbox One seems popular and well reviewed, but the Sony DS4 seems to combine the best bits of controllers.

TIA!

Why did you choose Linux over windows?

A variety of reasons, including the fact that I was spending more time fiddling with Windows than I was actually using the PC and that, from an ideological standpoint, I think open source software is a "good thing".

What finally pushed me to make the leap from Windows 7, was a so-called update that was actually just nagware to upgrade the OS.

I've found Linux Mint to be incredibly straightforward to use, genuinely plug & play.

Of course now that I'm not f-f-f-fiddling with the OS, I've become something of a hardware tweaker... ?

Very cool, was looking at Linux for the Stream PC. we weren't sure if we could use all the programs.

PS, I use a Classic Xbox 360 controller if I am playing a PC racing game 😀

i'm a big fan of the logitech f710 controller. I am logiteched up to my eyeballs anyway,a nd this fits in nicely. Amazing battery life! The only downside is the trigger buttons take a bit more effort to depress fully than the corresponding ones on either the ps4 or xbox360/1 controllers.

Thanks for that!

I do have a Logitech trackball and keyboard, which I'm happy with, so I'll have a look at their controller.

Assuming, that is, I can get the game to run: currently updating my GPU driver to see if that fixes the "DX11 feature set 10" error I currently have...

[EDIT]

Updating the driver was successful. 🙂
