Yes you read that right, I kill clones.
Backstory: I once grew a weed or two next to the Sheriffs house. It's name was Sweet Pea (I have some of it's Gen-1 seeds still) There was a 400W MH bulb in a closet. Cat loved the closet. Something was wrong, almost all my seeds were hermies. UGGGH. Harvested what we could, boiled the rest in Country Crock butter and had some interesting times with the butter. I never continued on with it due to life.
20 years later...
Buddy is growing down the street - now he can't anymore. The dude breaks out in rashes and can't have any of the flowers anymore, even brushing up against a leaf he ends up with a rash. He is passing his operation on to me - soooo cooool of him. Passing me some sweet genetics for safekeeping and trusting that I can also care-take for his wife. The first donation was a Klone King Aerocloner. Here dude, save my genetics - oh by the way here is a little Ferrari to drive them around in, don't worry if you don't know how to drive, it's easy. Oh by the way they have been in a flowering cycle for 2 weeks, don't worry they will re-vegetate...

We cut some bottom branches off his girls, dipped them in Conex rooting gel, popped them in the Klone King. All is looking pretty good, lets transport them up the street to their new home.
OK, here we go, lets try not kill all the clones.
It's cold in February, lets put the clone heating mat underneath the machine to keep things warm. Basement floor measures like 63-64 degrees F, too cold I suspect.

Here we are the first day after cuttings, proud to be carrying on. In the morning I give them a spray down with a solution my buddy mixed for me that had some Clonex Clone Solution.Â
It is all about learning and you are doing exactly that! The best growers make the most mistakes, learning to correct those mistakes before the next grow is how you differentiate a good grower from an excellent grower.Â

Thanks dR I appreciate the kind words. I have more to come this evening, still catching up.
I'm on tenterhooks here, but "More of the horror story to come..." doesn't fill me with hope.

Well, err, ahh, yea, not good.
Gotaa go to my brothers...
Wait let me check for roots.
Well a few are starting to show some root nubs, maybe the start of a root...
Saturday February 16, 2019 11:07 PM
Does not look quite as horrible from the top now ?Â
As this is posted after the fact, I have now figured out that tracking what you are doing when starting out as a noob is very important. Arrgh.

Oh yeah I added nutes and now it looks even worse. Better check PPM and pH with my new meters.
Hrm the pH looks good, but the ppm is a little high, let's cut it with some fresh water and add some Rezclear
Holy shit we have roots! Maybe I didn't kill them.... Let's wait on the fresh water and see how this progresses.
My heart can't take much more tonight.
Tough little buggers, hanging in for dear life!
Good point about record keeping: I'm going to be more thorough on that front.
Yeah I am trying to keep a book, but with all going on it's freaking too sparse with my entries. I am doing the photos of what I am doing and trying to journal some.

Just a quick peek before work, and we have more roots! Dont look at the tops, but we have roots!!!
I think I will let this go a few more days...
Thursday February 21, 2019 08:19 PM
Well up top things are not looking too good
But awww man we gots the roots!
So things are looking up, I think I am going to plant at least one of those tomorrow, those roots are growing like mad! I got a busy day tomorrow but I must get to it. I just don't know how many plants are totally dead lets check out The Bud Lab Discord and see whats what, I know someone there can help.
Looks like you should be able to salvage something from the carnage!
I hope you can get to the bottom of what the problem is.
Clones like a really defined zone of comfort to root quickly or at all. Cloning can be one of the more difficult parts of growing Cannabis so best of luck! Looks like you're getting the hang of it.
What are they being transplanted into after they root?
Yeah this is defiantly a learning curve. I was thrown into the fire and, well you are seeing the results. ARRRGGHHH!!!
More to come...

I haven't even started cloning yet! You are already one up on a lot of guys 😀 Learning is the fun part

Hey all, it was a quick hiatus due to life BS...
Saturday February 23, 2019 6:36 PM
Hey lets try some mystery bag seeds from 20 years ago.
It looks like most of them sunk! Holy cow is this going to work???
Move to paper towel.... Keep the fingers crossed!
Wow these little buggers look cute up close! Snapper Turtle?
Sunday February 24, 2019 6:36 PM
Things are not looking aweful, so hey keep on keeping on little guys...
Monday February 25, 2019 8:27 PM
My first transplant appears to be surviving against all odds! A little transplant shock? Very hopeful at this point for my first clone to make it to a container!
Tuesday February 27, 2019 12:14 AM
Well down to 4 in the cloner and one planted. The guy in the corner was just a crapshoot, I think that one is done for, but the front two are not looking to awful? Sure they are a little burt but new growth is green perky and looks good.
Let's do a root check...
Holy shit! I got some roots just popped out on two of them!!! OMG maybe I am getting the hang of this cloning thing. Better check pH and PPM...
Well not too shabby. pH is just about right, maybe just a touch of pH down is in order.
I smell dinner cooking, gotta go 'prep' myself for some good eats tonight, Mom is cooking!
More to come shortly!

Go clones! Considering where you started from, I think even one plant is a success: well done!
Interested to see how your mystery seeds do. I also found some seeds I'd saved, which I'll try and germinate a bit later in the year and grow outdoors, as they'll certainly be photo rather than auto.
Keep us posted.
How do you like the HM Digital Meters?, Transplant looking good they will soon start boom!

From where I am at in the thread things were looking desperate. I would say that you guys were instrumental in me not killing all of them.
The HM meters are pretty good, I just don't know how waterproof they are. They are not cheap to start with, but it certainly speeds up measurements. Once the I got the process is down, I am going to try my hand at some sort of continuous monitoring. We will see where this takes me.
Thanks all, updates coming later today.

Continuous monitoring would be awesome! I no @ronkestdonk ( http://www.thebudlab.ca/forum/diy/diy-cheap-arduino-ec-ppm-meter/) has been messing around with DIY meters.Â

Looking a little yellow on the bottom. But nice and green and perky up top.
The little gal in the corner I think has given up.
I think this one is not looking too bad:
Wow would you look at that, roots all the way down already...
Root Check!
Not too bad, almost proud of myself.

My updates are getting more sparse... I keep forgetting to take pics.
Well yesss, more roots going to plant this one.
pH and PPM appear to still be on the money.
Let's hope the last two make it.
